Most folks have no idea I’m running. All the others want to know “Who else is running?”.
You can help answer that question with your support TODAY and over 31 crucial days from now to June 10 — the end of Filing Week for 2011′s Nov. 8 general election. With your help right now – and a little luck – I won’t have to ask again for another 4 years!
In troubled times like these, a low turn-out off-year election can fire the political ambitions of eccentrics and opportunists.
We’ll be ready for anything — but we must show a strong hand before Filing to make challengers think twice about even starting the race.
Here’s a run-down on the groundwork we’ve laid for a resounding victory in this year’s election.
In the “campaign metrics” department, our numbers are good and the outlook is positive.
Fundraising:
- Over $45,000 raised, over $30,000 on hand.
- Nearly 300 contributors.
- All but 4 – from grass roots to big timber – are eligible to contribute more.
- Over 1,000 contributors from our 2005 and 2009 campaigns have not chipped in yet.
Endorsements:
- 350+ leading citizens (listed in full here).
- 10 other County Assessors.
- 50 more current and former elected officials.
- A growing list of labor, industry, civic and political organizations.
- History suggests these totals will double or triple by Election Day.
Contacts:
- 1,400 Facebook friends.
- 3,000 e-mail subscribers.
- 2,000 mailing addresses.
- 100 confirmed volunteers to post yard signs, write postcards, send e-mails or make phone calls.
Behind the numbers, there’s a team of campaign veterans. We know how to reach King County voters with a strategic mix of yard signs, web sites, mail, e-mail, hand-outs, social media, TV, print ads, radio and telephone.
Our visibility squad is geared up to go, with T-shirts, stickers, schedules and Google maps. Look for us at your favorite summer parades, fairs and festivals.
Our annual Harbor Party has always been a big draw. You’ll get word soon on more meets and greets like our May 23rd fundraiser downtown.
I’m running from a stronger position this year — and not just because I’m the incumbent.
In 2009, insiders were wary of change, and outsiders questioned how fast I’d learn the ropes. Since then I’ve earned the confidence of professionals throughout the Department, the County, and the State.
As Assessor, I have given over 200 presentations in person to town halls, service clubs, senior centers, civic, ethnic, trade and labor organizations.
No matter who else runs, you’ll see me on theĀ trail. And you’ll still see me everywhere when the race is over. Remember, I’m your accessible Assessor.
I’m proud of all we’ve done to bring a new way of doing business to the Department of Assessments — a customer service culture, technology upgrades, budgeting tighter and working smarter. I haven’t run out of ideas . . . don’t let me run out of time.
Please consider the most generous contribution you can afford right away!
Your donation – large or small – will show would-be challengers just how much support I have county-wide, and will help keep unqualified opponents out of the race.
